PASGIRAP

SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR THE SECURITY AND INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF AGROPASTORAL RESOURCES

I. Justification of PASGIRAP

The ASGIRAP program was developed in 2013 to address the problems of continued land and pasture degradation, increasing land and agro-pastoral conflicts, and the unsustainability of natural resource management committees, which have led over time in Northern Cameroon to a decline in agricultural and pastoral productivity and the impoverishment of populations, especially in rural areas.

PASGIRAP intends, on the one hand, to capitalize on the achievements of previous projects on developments, pastoral infrastructure, agro-ecological techniques, and on the other hand, to develop innovations to meet the first challenge of building sustainable consultation between the actors who exploit the same resources and the second challenge of producing more by enriching the natural capital of resources.

II. Objectives of the Program

  • Reducing rural poverty and local conflicts in the northern regions of Cameroon
  • Improving resilience to climate change
  • Establish concerted, inclusive, sustainable and economically efficient management systems for agro-pastoral resources
