RGAE statistical tables and analysis reports
Established by Presidential Decree No. 2015/292 of June 29, 2015, the General Census of Agriculture and Livestock (RGAE) has the main mission of providing the Government and stakeholders in the rural sector with reliable, relevant and sufficiently disaggregated data in order to meet the needs of planning, monitoring/evaluation of initiatives in favor of the development of the agro-pastoral and fisheries sectors.
With regard to agro-pastoral and aquaculture farms, it will provide structural information on:
the number of households growing each crop or type of crop;
production, cultivated areas and yields of the different crops;
identification and characterization of agropastoral and aquaculture production sites;
agropastoral and aquaculture heritage;
irrigation, agroforestry and fallow practice;
use of phytosanitary products and fertilizers;
agricultural labor;
cereal stocks, use of production and food security;
national livestock population by type of animal;
age and sex structure of the national livestock;
livestock and aquaculture production;
agropastoral and aquaculture production environment.
With regard to the community, it will provide structural information on:
general and agro-pastoral characteristics;
availability and accessibility to infrastructure (roads, electricity, water, etc.);
processing and craft units;
markets and marketing;
sites, cultural specificities and festivities;
economic activities and vocations;
availability of inputs, agro-pastoral supervision and financing structures;
labor, employment and agro-pastoral training.
ORGANIZATION OF THE RGAE
The institutional framework of the RGAE is defined by Presidential Decree No. 2015/292 of June 29, 2015, which established it. This decree established bodies for the supervision, guidance, and execution of the RGAE. The RGAE is placed under the joint technical supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries. Joint Decree No. 002/MINADER-MINEPIA signed on May 27, 2016 specifies the organization and operation of the National Coordination of the RGAE.
The coordination, control and execution of the operations of the RGAE are ensured by the following five (05) bodies:
The National Technical Committee;
The National Coordination;
The Regional Supervision Commissions;
The Departmental Supervision Commissions;
The District Supervisory Commissions.
The National Technical Committee
The National Technical Committee of the RGAE (CTN) is the steering body of the RGAE. To this end, it supervises, guides and formulates technical opinions on the conduct of RGAE operations.
Co-chaired by the Minister in charge of Agriculture and the Minister in charge of Livestock, the CTN is composed, in addition to representatives of the Presidency of the Republic and the Prime Minister’s Office, of representatives of the INS, BUCREP, INC, MINADER, MINEPIA, MINEPAT, MINEFI,
MINDCAF, MINRESI/IRAD.
NATIONAL COORDINATION
The National Coordination of the RGAE is the project manager for all RGAE operations throughout the national territory. Placed under the authority of a National Coordinator, in charge of agricultural surveys and statistics at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and, assisted by a Deputy National Coordinator, in charge of surveys and statistics at the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, the National Coordination is structured as follows:
At the central level:
04 Specialized Operational Units;
06 Support Services.
At the decentralized level:
10 Regional Supervision Coordinations;
58 Departmental Supervision Coordinations;
360 District Supervision Coordinations.
